Marion Mann born 9 September 1914

Marion Mann (9 September 1914 - 1966) was a singer with Bob Crosby’s Orchestra and Bob Cats from 1938 – 1941.

As you well may know I usually have a comprehensive biography of my birthday celebrities but Marion Mann has been a labour of love. I have spent hours combing the web for any information and all I got is what you see below.

Marion Mann was was born Marion Bateson in Columbus, OH, United States 9 September 1914.

 After graduating from a Columbus high school, Marion sang with a girl's trio on a local station. Emerson Gill hired her to sing with his orchestra during the mid 30’s and then Bob Crosby hired her away to do likewise, She was  with Bob Crosby and His Orchestra and  Bob Crosby's Bobcats between 1938 and 1940.

Before all these breaks, Marion had one that wasn't at all lucky. An auto accident left her with a fractured pelvis, broken collar bone, and skull puncture, nearly ending her career. But she didn't let it, and after leaving Crosby for Breakfast Club she learned to cook and tell riddles.

She was with the Breakfast Club at WMAQ for NBC from1942 to 1947.  During 1945 she recorded some Musicraft sides with Jose Bethancourt and his Orchestra. And that’s about it regarding Marion Mann.
